AnnaChrista and Bryan
AnnaChrsta (AC) and Bryan were the reason I first decided to create Snap Cubby back in 2008. When I first met with them as their potential wedding photographer, AC had an idea to do a sort of “prom photo” setup in the corner of their reception. She thought this would be a fun way to capture some candid moments with all of their guests. This is when I thought of creating a photo booth instead. Keep in mind, there were no local photo booth companies at this time, and I had never heard of anyone having one at a wedding before. Having photographed weddings for many years at this point, I thought having an actual photo booth that guests can operate themselves, and from behind the cover of a curtain, would allow them to create truly uninhibited and candid photos on their own.
At that time, I had no idea how amazing our little idea would become! I was just set on making the greatest photo booth ever that would rock their wedding and bring out everyone’s inner crazy for some candid photos unlike anything before. Little did I know, we were also at the beginning of a whole new craze. Photo booths have since become popular all over the country, and have essentially become the modern guest book. The bride did tell me at a later date that right after our meeting that she had sold another local photographer on the idea, essentially setting up my first competition. She was simply doing her due diligence by meeting with other wedding photographers before she decided to book me, just to be confident in her decision, and wanted to know what another photographer thought of the idea. Of course, that photographer loved the idea and quickly created his own version of a photo booth shortly thereafter. But I in no way claim to have been the pioneer of photo booths. The idea has been around since long before I was born, and I welcome the competition. My goal has always been to create the best modern version of an old idea. I wanted to create a photo booth that maintained the same nostalgic feel of the old-fashioned mechanical booths from the mid-century, but with an elegant and finished feel that would be welcome to even the nicest wedding. I also wanted to combine the rough, vintage feel of the old prints with the modern equipment and capabilities we have now. After years with the business, many redesigns and fun additions, I’m very proud of what Snap Cubby has become. I hope you get to experience the fun as well!
Here’s what AC had to say, looking back at her beautiful wedding day:
“I am proud to be the first bride to use SnapCubby at my wedding! It was an incredible part of the wedding (April 2009) that people still talk about. My husband and I used it as part of our photography package as well as our guest book – but it ended up being the perfect souvenir / giveaway for the wedding as well because SnapCubby prints two identical strips of photos. Basically people would glue one strip into our guest book and write a note next to their picture and then keep theother.
One of the best features of SnapCubby (versus other booths I’ve seen) is that it comes with costumes / wigs / props. What fun andanimated photos we got as the night progressed. Also, there were unlimited pictures so people really had fun with it. As part of our photography package we also had a slide show put to music which included all of the best strips take. It’s a really unique and hilarious piece of our wedding memorabilia!
Eric (of SnapCubby) was fun and fit in with my family and friends making it seem like he was part of our guest list, it was great. I would highly recommend this booth / service for weddings – but as a side note my husband also arranged it to be at my 30th birthday party a year later. That slide show is even funnier!!!”
